Extra mural activities are social activities that encourage kids to frequently interact with their peers. This teaches them social etiquette and the necessary skills needed to nurture robust networks and socialise with the world.

At Zwaanswyk Academy, there are host of extra-mural activities to choose from.

Athletics

Extramural athletics might be simply defined as the expansion of intramural competition between schools without the complex problems that necessarily must characterize interscholastic or intercollegiate sport.

Swimming

Swimming, in recreation and sports, is the propulsion of the body through water by combined arm and leg motions and the natural flotation of the body. Swimming as an exercise is popular as an all-around body developer and is particularly useful in therapy and as exercise for physically handicapped persons.

Cricket

Cricket is a game played between two teams, generally of 11 members each. In essence, it is single combat, in which an individual batsman does battle against an individual bowler, who has helpers known as fielders.

Music

Music is a collection of coordinated sound or sounds. Making music is the process of putting sounds and tones in an order, often combining them to create a unified composition. People who make music creatively organize sounds for a desired result, like a Beethoven symphony or one of Duke Ellington's jazz songs.

Computers

The Computer Club is an educational and fun group. The club explores both computer architecture and new application software. We try to help anyone with his or her computer problems. Participating in student clubs can help students manage these stresses and thrive. A good Computer Science program offers students many opportunities to explore their interests, imagine and realize possibilities, and work and socialize with their peers.

Rugby

Rugby is a 15-a-side team sport. The object of the game is to ground the ball behind the opponent's try line, into what is called the in-goal area. Rugby is played both with the ball in hand and by kicking the ball. However, when the ball is being carried in hand it can only be thrown or handed off backwards.

Netball

Netball is a ball sport played by two teams of seven players. Games are played on a rectangular court with raised goal rings at each end. The object is to score goals from within a defined area, by throwing a ball into a ring attached to a 3.05 metres (10 feet) high post.

Choir

A choir, also known as a chorale or chorus, is a group of singers performing together, usually led by a conductor who directs through gestures. The term often refers to church-based groups, while “chorus” is commonly used for concert or theatre ensembles, though the distinction isn’t strict. In music, “choir” can also describe a section within a larger ensemble, such as vocal or instrumental groups performing specific parts.
